Summary – Set in rural Africa, Fiela’s Child tells the story of Fiela Komoetie and a white, three year old child, Benjamin. For nine years, Fiela raises Benjamin as one of her own. But when the census takers find out about Benjamin, they send him to live with an illiterate family of woodcutters who claim him as their son. What follows is Benjamin’s search for his own identity and the changes affecting both families that claim him as their child.
