Earth (the book): A Visitor’s Guide to the Human Race by Jon Stewart
c. 2010
[Adult Nonfiction]

In their second book, Jon Stewart and the writing staff of The Daily Show present a comprehensive guide to the human race with the intention of preserving human culture for the extraterrestrials who discover post-apocalyptic Earth.

Bitingly funny and incisive, Earth explores topics such as history, government, religion, entertainment, biology, economy, and art. Although it is not as laugh-out-loud funny as America (the book): A Citizen’s Guide to Democracy Inaction, Earth is still a worthwhile read for both fans of Jon Stewart and satire in general.

If you enjoyed Earth, you might also like America (the book): A Citizen’s Guide to Democracy Inaction, I Am America (And So Can You!) by Stephen Colbert, I’m A Stranger Here Myself by Bill Bryson, and Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris.

Pros: A fun satire that provokes both laughter and serious thought.
